Lawyers turn down J&K Chief Justice request; strike to continue
Jammu, Aug 12 (UNI) The agitated lawyers of the Jammu region today turned down the request of state Chief Justice Bashir Ahmed Khan urging them to resume the court proceedings in public interest.
In a general body meeting, the lawayers decided to countinue with the strike till their demand to transfer the high profile Kashmir sex scandal case outside of Srinagar was not accepted.
Ved Raj Wazir, the president of Jammu Bar Association (JBA), talking to UNI said the general body had rejected Mr Khan's request to call off the strike and resume work.
The lawyers boycotting the court proceedings since June 28. The judicial work in Jammu and Kashmir High Court and other lower courts have remained paralysed due to the agitation.
