Jayapura receives 18 CM rain

Bangalore, Aug 12 (UNI) Following is a summary of observations recorded by the local weather office at 0830 hours today.

Monsoon was vigorous over South Interior Karnataka and active over Coastal Karnataka. Rainfall occurred at a few places over North Interior Karnataka.

Very heavy rainfall amounts (cm): Jayapura 18; Sringeri 17; Kammardi 15; Kalasa 14; Mani, Siddapura, Bhagamandala 13 each.

Heavy rainfall amounts (cm): Balehonnur 12; Belthangadi, Subramanya, Jagalbet 11 each; Yellapura, N.R.Pura, Mudigere 10 each; Madikeri, Mangalore Airport, Lakkavalli 9 each; Kundapur, Londa 8 each; Kadra, Sirsi, Joida, Panambur 7 each.

Forecast valid until Monday morning: Rain/thundershowers likely to occur at most places over Coastal Karnataka and at many places over Interior Karnataka.

Farmers forecast: Moderate to heavy rain likely to occur at most places over Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Shimoga, Chikmagalur, Kodagu and Belgaum districts. Light to moderate rain likely to occur at many places over Dharwad and Haveri districts and at a few places over remaining districts of the State.

Heavy rainfall warning: Heavy to very heavy rain may to occur at a few places over Coastal Karnataka and ghat areas of South Interior Karnataka during next 24 hours. Heavy rain may also occur at isolated places over Belgaum district during the same period Local forecast for Bangalore city: Generally cloudy. One or two spells of rain likely.
