India bag one more gold in Asian Cadet Wrestling
Chandigarh, Aug 12 (UNI) India added one gold, two silver and two bronze today to take their medal tally to 10 in the ongoing sixth Asian Cadet Wrestling Championship in Bangkok.
According to information received here today India were lying at the third position behind leaders Iran (5-1-4) and Japan (4-3-1).
Korea were at the fourth spot with a medals tally of 3-0-3.
The solitary gold for India came from the efforts of Haryana grappler Kumari Babita who outpointed Nishi Nodoka of Japan in the 49 kg bout final in the girls freestyle event.
India struck two silver medals in the boys freestyle competitions. Punjab grappler Sandeep Kumar and Amit Dhankar of Delhi won second positions in the 69 kg and 63 kg weight categories respectively.
In the 69 kg final bout, Sandeep lost to Tavakol Saeid of Iran while Amit was defeated by Koim Jung-Chul of Korea in the 63 kg class final bout.
Jaivir of Delhi got bronze medal in 58 kg class. India's lone medal in the Greco-Roman sytle was bagged by Surender of Haryana in the 54 kg category.
Yesterday, India had won gold medals through Apoorva Tyagi (40 kg girls freestyle) and Narender Kumar (46 kg men freestyle).
Priyanka Singh (43 kg) and Wang Kaushalya (46kg) won silver and Kavita captured the bronze in 38 kg girls freestyle section.
The Wrestling Federation of India had fielded a 30-member team in the competition.
