HC scraps out of turn allotment of lawyers chamber
Jabalpur, Aug 12 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh High Court has cancelled out of turn allotment of chambers at the State Bar Council building here to the executive committee members ignoring the seniority of lawyers in the waiting list.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Anang Kumar Patnaik and Mr Justice Suresh Chandra Sinho yesterday directed to scrap the provision in allotment rules for out of turn allotment to executive members and for fresh allotment of five disputed chambers after vacating it in 4 months.
Disposing a petition filed by Mr J P Sanghi and others, the court held that the provision added in 1998 for out of turn allotment was unconstitutional. The petitioner said many members were waitlisted since 1984, but 5 executive members elected after 1998 were allotted chambers.
