GJU sets up 120 study centres all over country

Hisar Aug 12 (UNI) The correspondence directorate of Guru Jambeshwar University of Science and Technology has opened 120 study centres in the country so far.

''Eucation at your doorstep'' and ''learn while you earn'' are our mottos. Ours is the first university which has started specialised course of Master of Insurance Business and 75 students have been enrolled in this course,'' Prof M S Turan, Director, Correspondence Courses told UNI today.

Fifteen thousand students were enrolled last year in various correspondence courses and nine thousand prospectus have been sold so far this year, he said.

''We have a liberal approach and the students already studying in any course or university can join our courses simultaneously. We do not ask for the migration certificate, '' Prof Turan said.

The directorate established in 1997, had introduced courses relevant to the present times and most were job-oriented, Prof Turan said addig that over fifty per cent enrolment was sought in the computer, MBA, BBA and Mass Communication.

In Delhi alone, there were 35 study centres and in Haryana the number had crossed 40.

In the three year course of MCA, the students are awarded Post Graduate diploma (PGDCA )after completion of first year. They are awarded MSc Degree after of completion of two years and after completion of three years they are awarded the degree of MCA.

This year the last date for the semester courses was August 31 and for annual courses the last date was September 30, he said.
