Hyderabad, Aug 12 (UNI) Even as the flood battered Andhra Pradesh is struggling to recover from the extensive damage caused by the floods, heavy rains were predicted in North Coastal Andhra region again under the influence of yesterday's well-marked low pressure area over north Bay of Bengal off north Orissa-West Bengal coast concentrating into a depression today.

The system, centered at 0830 hrs about 100 km east-southeast of Balasore, was likely to move slowly in a west-northwesterly direction and cross north Orissa and adjoining West Bengal coast between Chandbali and Digha by tomorrow morning, Hyderabad Meteorological Centre Director M Satya Kumar told UNI.

Fishermen were advised not to venture into the sea as squally winds with speeds reaching 50-60 KMPH were likely along and off north coastal Andhra coast. The sea conditions would be rough to very rough.

Isolated heavy rains were likely in the districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam in the next 48 hours. Moderate to rather heavy rain/thundershowers were likely at many places in North Coastal region. Light to moderate rain/thundershowers were likely at a few places in south coastal region as also Telangana and Rayalaseema.

The chief amounts of rainfall recorded in cm were Kurnool, Yemmiganur (Kurnool dist) 5 each, Cumbum (Prakasam dist), Kalyandurg (Anantapur dist), Kodangal (Mahabubnagar dist) 3 each, Atmakur and Mantralayam (both Kurnool dist), Chintalapudi (West Godavari dist), Ichapuram (Srikakulam dist), Puttur (Chittoor dist) 2 each.
