CPM to organise campaign against UPA policies in AP
Hyderabad, Aug 12 (UNI) Communist Party of India CPI (M), Andhra Pradesh unit Secretary B V Raghavulu today announced the party would organise a mass campaign in protest against the anti-people policies of UPA government from August 23 to September 3 in the state.
Addressing the press here, Mr Raghavulu said CPM national General Secretary Prakash Karat would attend the public meeting on August 23 as a part of the campaign, demanding that UPA implement the Common Minimum Programme (CMP) strictly and adhere to its.
The party would organise public meetings at Vijayawada on September 2 and in Visakhapatnam on September 3, which will be attented by the party politburo member Sitaram Yechur, Meetings and campaigns would also be organised in 400 centres in the state, he added.
Alleging that the left parties have suggested alternative policies to the UPA, which had been implementing the anti-poor policies, Mr Raghavulu said the aim of the campaign is to exert pressure on the Centre to implement all promises made during the elections.
