Congress accuses MNF of fund misuse

Aizwal, Aug 12 (UNI) The Mizoram Pradesh Congress (MPCC) today accused the Zoramthanga led Mizo National Front (MNF) government of diversion of huge public fund violating norms.

MPCC spokesperson Ronald Sapa said the MNF goverment had diverted Rs 281 lakh from the National Rural Health Mission for renovation of Aizwal civil hospital, which is against the center's directive.

''The government had not only downsized the Falkawan Referral Hospital from 500 to 30 bed health clinic but also sanctioned a huge amount for the renovation of the city hospital,'' he said.

The Congress also accused the Zoramthanga government of misusing the funds for 'unnecessary' reason.

''A sum of Rs 1.20 crore was spent for construction of 37 quarters and Rs 3.75 crore for procurement of mobile toilet vans, which have been left unused,'' he added.

He, however, said Mizoram is at the bottom of utilisation of fund of PMGSY scheme among 18 Indian states which had failed to utilise the Rs 3500 crore sanctioned to it.

Alleging incompetent move of the administration, Mr Sapa said Tuirial Hydel Project, which was supposed to be completed by July had been stopped due to huge compensation claims.

He also pointed out that about Rs 21 crore had been spent out of Rs 68 crore and Rs 4.34 lakh was given to CM's relatives.
