Congress accuses CPM of politicising education
Barrackpore, Aug 12 (UNI) The Congress today decried 'politicising' of school education by the ruling Left Front in West Bengal.
The Congress's North 24 Parganas unit, led by its district secretary Gurupada Biswas, expressed resentment over politicising of school education.
The party alleged that question papers set in a government aided school at Kalyannagar in the district contained subjects of political activities carried out by the CPI(M) in schools under the West Bengal Board.
Mr Biswas also alleged that the class IX students were asked to write essays on subjects like "DYFI Blood Donation Camp" that was organised in the school to guage the impact on students about the Democratic Youth Federation of India(DYFI), the CPI(M)'s youth front and its activities in the state.
Local Congress activists along with the Congress Chhatra Parishad submitted a memorandum protesting such 'unlawful' activites at the school levels.
Mr Biswas took up the matter with the Pradesh Congress Committee.
He alleged that local CPI(M) leader and chairman of Khardah Municipality Brajagopal Saha is also a teacher in that school and is suspected to have a hand in setting of such questions in the school examinations.
