Australian frigate HMAS Ballarat calls at Kochi port
Kochi, Aug 12 (UNI) The Australian frigate HMAS Ballarat arrived at the Kochi port today on a three-day visit.
Under the charge of Commander Malcom Wise, Ballarat is the eighth of the ANZAC class of frigates built for the Royal Australian Navy.
The ship is capable of air-defence, surface and undersea warfare, survellance, reconnaissance and interdiction.
It can also counter simultaneous threats from aircraft, surface ships and submarines.
This visit will provide the ship's crew an opportunity for rest and recreation at Kochi, an official release said.
