AP Cultural Council celebrate Kalaratna(Hamsa)awards function

Hyderabad, Aug 12 (UNI) Andhra Pradssh Chief Minister Dr.Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy would present the Kalaratna(Hamsa) awards here on August 15 for outstanding service inliterature, music, dance, painting, sculpture and flok arts.

Chairman of the Andhra Pradesh State Cultural Council and cine actor Dharmavarapu Subrahmanyam told newspersons that the awards would be given to the prominent persons who had rendered outstanding service in this fields.

He said Dr.Dasarathi Ranghachayra and Gorati Venkanna(Literature) Dr. Yella Venkateswara Rao(Mridangam) S.

Vithala Rao(Hindusthani Vocal) Kumari Swathy Somanath and Dr.G.

Padmaja Reddy(Kuchipudi Dance) Dr.Bapu(Painting) C.S.N.

Patnaik(Sculpture) and Katta Suryananarayana(Buttabommalata) and S.Pabhakar (Folk Songs) have been selected for the Kalaranta (Hamsa) awards for they year 2006.

He said the award comprises cash prize of Rs.30,000, a Gold plated ''Hamsa'' memento and a Citation singed by the Chief Minister.

He said the awards will be renamed as 'Kala Ratna' Awards.
