Amar amused by speculation over his meeting with Natwar

Lucknow, Aug 12 (UNI) Samajwadi Party general secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh today clarified there should be no speculation regarding his meeting with former External Affairs Minister and suspended Congress leader Natwar Singh.

''Mr Natwar Singh is in public even before I was born. I hold him in high esteem,'' Mr Singh said interacting with mediapersons here.

The SP general secretary -- also the UP Development Council chairperson -- said he regularly met leaders of various political parties, and nothing more should be read in between.

''I meet Mr Singh because he is a former External Affairs minister. I also meet Mr Yashwant Sinha of BJP because he is also a former union minister,'' he maintained.

On terrorism, the SP leader said no particular community should be identified with the phenomenon.

''Member of any community can be involved in terrorist activity, but it does not mean that the whole community is indicted for the crime,'' he observed.

Earlier addressing a news conference at New Delhi, Mr Singh had said Mr Natwar Singh's relations with Congress and the Prime Minister following his (Natwar) indictment by the Pathak Authority in the oil-for-food scam was party's internal matter.

The SP leader claimed his party neither offered its membership to Mr Natwar Singh nor did he himself express any desire for that, though he was welcome anytime he wanted to come.
