US warns of terrorist strikes in Delhi, Mumbai

New Delhi, Aug 11: The United States today warned that foreign terrorists, possibly including members of Al Qaeda, plan to carry out a series of bomb attacks in and around Delhi and Mumbai in the days leading up to the Independence Day.

The warning comes in the form of an adivsory issued by the US Embassy here to American citizens in the country.

The advisory also gives a possible time frame of August 11-16 for the attacks, which it says are likely to target major airports, key central Indian government offices and major gathering places such as hotels and markets. The Embassy has urged American citizens to maintain a low profile and advises them to be alert and attentive to their surroundings during this period.

Yesterday, Britain unearthed a massive terrorist plan to hijack as many as ten passenger planes between UK and the US and detained 21 people, including those of Pakistani origin.
