Tripura youths passing days abroad as bonded labour
Agartala, Aug 11 (UNI) Ten youths, mostly Muslims from Udaipur sub-divison in South Tripura district, who had gone to Malaysia on May 25 with the help of agents in the hope of earning a better livelihood, were being exploited as bonded labour and facing physical and mental torture.
This was revealed by one Hiran Mian who recently requested Chief Minister Manik Sarkar to rescue the youths. Hiran's son was among the ten who were living in inhuman conditions in Malaysia.
The agents had assured them of arranging jobs abroad to enable them earn huge money. Many people sold their land and property to send their sons abroad. But after taking them to Malayasia the major amount was taken away by the agents. The youths were engaged as sweepers.
Hiran submitted a letter to the state government requesting to expedite the youths' return from Malaysia.
Some Bangladeshi nationals were also being exploited there, Hiran claimed.
