Tripartite Comm of Pak, US, Afghan to meet
Islamabad, Aug 11: The Tripartite Commission of Pakistan, Afghanistan and the United States will discuss ways to reinforce anti-terror cooperation in a meeting on August 23-24 in Kabul with special focus on intelligence cooperation, a media report here said.
The Nation quoted an official as saying it would be the 18th meeting of the Commission, which includes senior military and diplomatic representatives from the three nations.
Officials of NATO-ISAF who recently assumed the control of international military forces operating in southern Afghanistan would also attend the meeting.
The meeting would review intelligence sharing among the allied states in the war on terror, the official said adding that they would also deliberate upon the prospects of increasing cooperation on this important front.
In the last meeting of the Commission held in Rawalpindi in June last, Islamabad, Kabul and the Coalition delegations presented after-action reports on Operation Mountain Lion, operation to deny sanctuary and safe haven for their common enemy - Taliban and al-Qaeda- and to improve the lives of the Afghan people through various reconstruction projects and humanitarian assistance.
According to the official, discussions on these vital operations and related matters would continue in the upcoming meeting.
