SIFT software to help detect soldiers health and whereabouts
New Delhi, Aug 11 (UNI) Mohit Bhargava and Mitushi Jain, who represented India in the 'Imagine Cup 06' held at Agra recently, have secured the third position in the Interface design category clinching a prize money of 3,000 dollars.
Satellite Imaging and Fabric Technology (SIFT), a software solution developed by Mohit Bhargava and Mitushi Jain of Ambedkar Institute Of Technology (Guru Gobind Singh Inderprastha University) and National Institute of Fashion Technology respectively, will help monitor health details and whereabouts of soldiers, guarding the nation's borders, with the help of special fabric dresses.
''Satellite Imaging and Fabric Technology (SIFT) are interfaces to an application that continuously monitors health details of soldiers, with the help of special fabric dresses, that send data across the satellites to base stations to monitor the health status of soldiers. They generate sufficient alerts to help anyone in vain,'' they told reporters here.
Mohit, a Computer engineering student, played the coder's part and Mitushi played the designer's role in the project.
The designers have received offers from corporate houses to develop the solutions for the Indian Army. However, they refused to divulge any further details.
The Brazilian team and Chinese team were adjudged first and second place respectively receiving a prize money of 8,000 dollar and 4,000 dollar.
