Shiv tied 125th after oepning round of KLM Open

Zandvoort, Netherlands, Aug 11 (UNI) Shiv Kapur failed to recover from a horrendous start as he carded a four-over 75 to be tied for the 125th spot in the 1.6 million dollar The KLM Open.

Shiv battled strong winds at the Kennemer course as he managed a solitary birdie and three bogeys and a double-bogey in his opening round.

Shiv faces the propect of missing the cut if he continues with the same form in the next round.

The Indian -- playing his back nine first -- made a poor start as he bogeyed the 12th. He fumbled once more and ended up with a double-bogey on the 15th, which left him three over at the halfway mark.

Making the turn to play the other nine, Shiv once again found himself struggling as he dropped a shot on the third before firing his consolation birdie. He bogeyed the ninth to end a disappointing day.

Meanwhile, at the top, Denmark's Anders Hansen and Frenchman Christian Cevaer took the lead with identcal six-under 65 cards.

Austrian Markus Brier and Briton Robert Rock were a shot behind at the third place with five-under 66.
