Bhopal, Aug 11 (UNI) The death toll in rain-related incidents has risen to 31 rpt 31 while the fury abated in western Madhya Pradesh with a break in showers today but the situation continued to be grim in Jhabua district with revival of monsoon and rise in the level of Narmada caused by the backwater of Sardar Sarovar project.
At Alirajpur in Jhabua district, the water level touched 121.30 metres, two metres above the danger level. About 16 villages have been inundated causing house collapse and damaging crops.
Details of the damage were not known as road link from Jhabua to other areas remain disrupted.
Union Minister of State for Agriculture Kantilal Bhuria is scheduled to visit the flood-affected areas of Jhabua tomorrow.
Road links remained paralysed in many areas in western part of the state yesterday due to swollen rivers and rivulets have been restored with receding of the water level.
Monsoon was active in Indore and Ujjain divisions during the last 24 hours with Jhabua recording 13 cm rainfall, Ratlam 11 and Ujjain nine. The weather office has forecast heavy rains in the eastern part during the next 48 hours.
