Rains continue in Guj, Saurashtra and Kutch remain dry

Gandhinagar, Aug 11 (UNI) The rains which wreaked havoc in Gujarat for the past week, continue to lash Central, North and Southern parts of the State, even as there has been a lull in Saurashtra and Kutch regions.

The worst affected is Jambughoda area in Panchmahals district where 156 mm rainfall was recorded in the last 24 hours.

Besides, 80 talukas have recorded appreciable rains in the last 24 hours, according to the State's emergency response centre.

Also, in Banaskantha 132 mm rainfall was recorded, in Modasa of Sabarkantha district - 131 mm, Dabhoi of Vadodara district received 130 mm rains while Jambusar in Bharuch district recorded 121 mm rainfall.

In eight talukas of the State, over four inches of rain was recorded. In Limkheda it was 111 mm and in Lunavada 104 mm.

Santrampur recorded 97 mm, Dhansur 96 mm, Pavi-Jetpur 95 mm, Dediapada and Bayada 88 mm and Megharaj 72 mm.

In 20 talukas of the State, over two inches of rain was recorded.

This includes - Borsad (70 mm) in Anand district of Central Gujarat; Sanklav 47mm; Petlad 49 mm, Kheda Taluka Katlal 70 mm, Thasra 68 mm; Virpur 67 mm; Balasinor 62 mm; Kheda, Nadiad 47 mm, Kapadvanj 46 mm; Vadodara district comprising Vadodara and Vaghodia 62 mm; Kwant, Savli 50 mm and Naswadi 48 mm.

In North Gujarat's Panchmahals district - Godhra recorded 60 mm rainfall, Dhondha 59 mm, Kadana 58 mm, Morvahadaf 52 mm and in Mendarda in Junagadh district of Saurashtra it was 48 mm.

Also, 20 talukas that recorded over one inch of rain are - Daskroi 35 mm, Ahwa 33 mm, Gandhinagar 27 mm, Kalol 29 mm, Mahuda 47 mm, Matar, Mehmadabad 25 mm, Satalasana 23 mm, Nandod 40 mm, Saghbara 42 mm, Tilkvada 30 mm, Sehara 32 mm, Kalol 42 mm, Khanpur 25 mm, Vijaynagar 22 mm, Karjan 31 mm, Padra 26 mm, Sankheda 40 mm, Sinor 23 mm and Dharmpur 27 mm.

Besides, 17 talukas including Anand, Sojiba, Danta, Dahnera, Kankhrej, Tarad, Amod, Jhagadia, Dehgam, Manasa, Vijapur, Talod, Vadali, Songadh, Pardi, Valsad and Kaparada recorded 0.5 inch of rain.
