Lalu introduces Supplementary Demands for Grants(Railway) in LS

New Delhi, Aug 11 (UNI) Railway Minister Lalu Prasad introduced the Supplementary Demand for Grants (Railways) in the Lok Sabha today.

Introducing the Bill, Mr Prasad said Indian Railway is now being praised all over the world for its performance and additional money is required to further improve the Railways network and standard.

Speaking on this, Laxmi Narayan Pandey (BJP) said a large number of ordinary trains were being upgraded as Express trains and, similarly, a large number of express trains were being upgraded as Super Fast trains, but significantly, while doing so the Ministry has neither improved its speed nor its other performance and as a result there is no benefit for passengers and rather they have to pay more for travelling in those trains.

He requested the Government to review this and revert all those trains accordingly to their respective standards.

Rajesh Kumar Mishra (Cong) appreciated the role of the Railway Minister for improving the image of Indian Railways globally. He said if popularity is any benchmark then during this Rakshabandan, the largest number of Rakhi that were sold in the national capital bore the photos of the Railway Minister.
