Govt to revise police training curriculum: Balakrishnan
Malappuram, Aug 11 (UNI) Kerala Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishan today said the government has proposed to revise training curriculum of the police force in the state.
Addressing the passing out parade of 350 cadets of the Malabar Special Police here, he said at present training was imparted mainly on subjects based on CrPc and IPC and the syllabus would be revised after discussions at an appropriate level.
The minister said he was of the opinion that the force should be modernised to suit the changing security scenario in the country.
Stressing on the need for a strong and disciplined police, he said the government would not allow tendency of indiscipline and any move to weaken the force.
He said as many as 2000 new trainees would join the focre in various places in the state by the end of August.
Efforts were also on to fill the vacancies of about 2000 constables and few sub inspectors soon, he said.
Mr Balakrishanan said the government was examining the suggestion to enhance the basic qualification for enrolment in the state police force.
