Godavari water receding: Minister
Amalapuram, Andhra Pradesh, Aug 11 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Major Irrigation Minister Ponnala Lakshmiah today said the water level in River Godavari was receding and level at Dowleswaram Barrage would come down to 13.75 feet by tomorrow evening.
Reviewing the relief works along with East Godavari District Special Relief Officer M V P C Sastry and Collector M Subramanyam, Mr Lakshmaiah said once the level touched 13.75 feet at Dowleswaram, the repair works could be undertaken according to an assessment by Irrigation officials.
The Minister also reviewed seed supply to the farmers besides steps to be taken once the water receded, like medicines and sanitation.
Amalapuram MP G V Harsha Kumar who was also present at the review meeting expressed satisfaction over the relief and rehabilitation work.
