Go slow on NBSE affiliation-NPCC
Kohima, Aug 10 (UNI) The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has expressed concern over the issue of affiliation of private schools of four hill districts of Manipur with Nagaland Board of Secondary Education (NBSE).
They also urged the NBSE to openly state the norms and rules under which schools from outside can get affiliation.
NPCC President Hokheto Sumi in a release asked the NBSE to make its stand clear whether it can declare name of the schools in those places which can have examination centres for students to appear examinations and also explain practical difficulties and limitations, if any, in exercising power in schools outside the state.
He said the NPCC feels that without any infrastructure or knowing the norms of the NBSE syllabus, imposition of such syllabus is a hasty step for the students of those places.
It pointed out that a student from those areas topped the merit list of HSLC examination conducted by NBSE in particular year but was denied the awards because she was not a Naga from Nagaland even though her parent was an official employee in Nagaland.
The Congress party is of the view that affiliating the private schools of those places may only lead to misunderstanding between the people of the two states and felt that the issue needs to be studied carefully before taking any hasty decision.
