Chouhan reviews flood situation
Bhopal, Aug 11 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Government has asked district collectors to be prepared for providing relief and rescue operations in places hit by rains and floods.
The death toll climbed to 35 and four people were missing in 10 districts, while about 200 cattle heads perished and hundreds of houses damaged in seven districts. Flood-hit people were lodged in 51 relief camps.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who today reviewed the situation due to excessive rains, directed the district collectors to provide details in case of heavy loss or accidents.
After assessment of the loss to life and properties, the CM directed to send a detailed report to the Centre.
Eleven people died in Mandsaur, two each in Ratlam, Sagar and Dewas, four each in Burhanpur and Ujjain, one in Jhabua and nine in Badwani district.
Besides, one person each from Dhar and Ratlam districts and two from Khandwa district were missing, official sources said here today. Loss of cattle heads included 124 in Burhanpur, 50 in Badwani, eight in Ujjain, six in Jhabua, four in Dewas, three in Mandsaur and two each in Sagar and Dhar, while 715 houses were damaged in Burhanpur, 240 in Mandsaur, 53 in Jhabua, 37 in Mandla, 30 in Ujjain, three each in Vidisha and Ratlam.
Relief camps had been opened in Mandsaur, Burhanpur, Dewas, Badwani, Khargone and Ujjain. Five persons caught up in Surang Devin in Mandla were rescued and their health examined, the release added.
