Workshop recommends media reporting on positive aspects of HIV/AIDS
Panaji, Aug 10 (UNI) A day-long state level media sensitisation workshop today favoured ''positive'' side of media reporting on HIV/AIDS aspects with more success stories so that it promoted ''attitudinal change among the high risk groups''.
This could be achieved if the non-governmental organisations concerned joined hands with the media which is suitably oriented, sensitised and well trained to report HIV/AIDS related cases on a wider canvas with positive outlook, the participants observed.
''HIV/AIDS prevention is everybody's business and the media should not give a horrific depiction of the sufferers which tends to leave a negative impact even as the disease is gaining epidemic status including in India which had so far reported about 5.7 million as against 40.3 million in the world,''they added.
The workshop, first of its kind in the state, was organised under the aegis of the ''Community Resource Foundation(CRF)'', a Goa-based NGO in collaboration with the Goa State Aids Control Society(GSACS) and the State Directorate of Health Services.
