Wipro Cares inaugurates Learning Centre
Bangalore, Aug 10: Wipro Cares, a Trust promoted by IT major Wipro, in association with an NGO, opened a Learning Centre here today focusing on providing an enriching, exciting and secure environment for children from the economically disadvantaged section of the society.
Wipro Cares, an initiative of Wipro and its employees to engage in community development, had supported the initiative of the NGO, Makkala Jagriti, whose focus was to work with the children in the area ofeducation to set up community-based Learning Centres.
In a release here, Wipro Vice President (Community Initiatives) Vijay Gupta said ''While regular schools support the academic development of the child, there is a need to provide access to quality learning in an enjoyable environment to all children. It is an attempt to provide an opportunity to children.'' Makkala Jagriti Managing Trustee Joy Srinivasan said ''the objective of the community based Learning Centre is to reach out to the children from the economically disadvantaged society to make a positive difference to a child's quality of learning and development such that it will allow them to go beyond their circumstances, create role models and facilitate natural integration into the mainstream.''
