We are streamlining the system that we inherited-Nitish
Patna, Aug 10 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today said his government was streamlining the inherited system which unfortunately had no precedence for acknowledging letters by public servants.
Intervening in the noisy scenes created by members of the ruling coalition over fixing of a particular day by a district magistrate for meeting the public representatives, Mr Kumar assured the House that public servants would be available to meet them on any day and at any time.
He elaborated that the government had issued a directive to the public servants right from block to state level to fix a day for meeting the common man in order to listen to their grievances and solve their problems.
For this, the public servants might need an orientation to respond to the system being revived by the NDA government, he said and informed that apart from the orientation programme, all requisite arrangements would be made to maintain the records of public grievances raised during the meetings.
He said a system had been evolved since independence under which public servants had to meet common people and the directive issued by his government was not new.
He said it was unfortunate that the public servants did not even acknowledge and reply the letters of the public represenatives but it was a fact that the NDA had inherited such a system. Mr Kumar said his government was streamlining the system and it would improve in due course.
