Top rallyists to take part in K-1000 motor rally

Bangalore, Aug 10 (UNI) Top rallyists, including championship leader Naren Kumar of Coimbatore, Karandip Singh of Chandigarh and Gaurav Gill of Delhi, will vie for top honours in the three-day Mico-Bosch 32nd K-1000 motor rally which will be flagged off from the city tomorrow.

Briefing newspersons about the rally, Karnataka Motor Sports Club (KMSC) President Praneet Perumal said that the highlight of this year's rally would bf a spectator-friendly 6.2 km Super Special Stage to be held at Jakkur on the outskirts of the city tomorrow.

The 600-km rally would have 120-km two special stages of dirt roads near Maddur about 80 km from here, testing the speed and endurance of both the machines and the drivers.

KMSC Vice President Bharat Raj, who was also present, said that this year the rally has attracted a record number of 47 entries.

He said that the big names of Motor Sports in the country including of the reigning National Rally Champions Team JK Tyres, Team MRF and Chittinad Sporting were participating in full strength, promising a fight till the finish.

Mr Perumal said that ''special efforts have been made to improve the safety aspects both for the drivers and spectators. A dedicated team had worked tirelessly since last one month to plug all the gaps in its efforts to retain the 'Best Rally' award bagged by KMSC last year in the National Rally Championship.
