TN Govt's denial to stage World Tamil function unfair: Vaiko
Chennai, Aug 9: The Tamil Nadu Government denied permission to hold the fourth World Tamil Federation Anniversary function scheduled to be held on August 12 and 13 in Salem, Tamil Nadu.
In a release MDMK General Secretary Vaiko said the Tamil movement Leader P Nedumaran was organising the function and Tamil scholars from all over the world were expected to participate in the function.
Mr Vaiko alleged that the State Government has denied permission to stage the function yesterday, citing unreasonable reasons of not being furnished proper information of passports and visas of the delegates, He said the Government's action needs to be condemned uniquivocally. The hasty action proved beyond doubt that the decision to deny permission to conduct the show was taken at the behest of the Chief Minister, M Karunanidhi, he alleged.
He also alleged that the Government had acted against the interests of Tamils in India and abroad. Unless the Government permits to hold the function, MDMK would take steps to protect the freedom of speech and fundamental rights of people.
