Three family members among five died, four injured due to rains

Jammu, Aug 10 (UNI) At least five people, including three members of a family died due to rain related incident in Jammu region during past 24 hours, officials sources said today.

Three member of the family of one Noor Mohammad Shan died when his house collapsed in Goila-Kahara village at Thathari tehsil of doda district in Jammu and Kashmir in the wee hours today.

The police said the house in which the seven member family of Noor Mohammad was living collapsed today around 0400 hrs due to heavy rain for past one week.

The deceased have been identified as Saleema begum (45) her son Shah Nawaz (14) and three year-old son Rizwan. Four members of the family, identified as Huq Nawaz (16), Basharat Hussain (10), Rozi Banoo (6) and Shazia Banoo (4) also got injuries, sources added. All the injured were shifted to Doda hospital.

Meanwhile, two people got washed away in the Chajjar in Mendhar and Surankote of Poonch district last night. The bodies, identified as Zaheer Eayaz and Mohammad Sultan both 16 years old, were fished out from the river.
