State Govt to compensate flood-affected like last year's policy: CM
Sangli, Maharashtra, Aug 10 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh today said that his government will compensate flood affected people in the state adopting last year's financial assistance policy introduced to help people affected in rain devastation.
Talking to reporters here, Mr Deshmukh accompanied by State Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil said the state government has already requested Union government for Rs 500 crore financial package to Maharashtra to help the affected.
He will again approach Union government soon to request more assistance as about 19 districts in the State have been affected severely due to rains and flood water in current season, he said.
Earlier Mr Deshmukh and Mr Patil jointly visited some parts of the flood-affected Sangli city and took stock of the situation after an aerial survey of other parts in the district.
He also held a meeting with government officials and directed them to take necessary steps for speedy relief works.
