Specific plan in place for tri-series: Chappell

Bangalore, Aug 10 (UNI) Indian cricket team coach Greg Chappell has drawn specific plan to plot the defeat of Sri Lanka and South Africa in the tri-series that begins in the emerald isles from August 14.

Speaking to newspersons just before team emplaned for Colombo from the city, he said he had drawn a specific plan in a bid to win a one-day tournament in Sri Lanka that had remained elusive for the Indian team for a long time.

Replying to a questions, he, however, said winning always did not count in cricket and getting better was equally important.

''Our main aim is to put our opponents under pressure. It is also to keep all the players focused,'' he said.

When asked about benefits drawn from training session that was arranged at an army base in the city during fitness camp in the city, the coach said it was an opportunity to learn different things that could help players to excell.

''The camp gave an opportunity to learn many things. Cricket is a public exercise, it will show up in different ways, the boys enjoyed the army exercise,'' he said.

The recent tours of Pakistan and West Indies had helped the team to learn new things and work out different strategies to overcome the shortfalls.

''Our main aim should be to put pressure on the opponents and on us as well. We must understand that we have to perform well,'' he added.
