Setting up of mail regulatory authority of India
New Delhi, Aug 10 (UNI) The government today said there is a proposal from the Department of Posts to set up a Mail Regulatory and Development Authority through an amendment in the Indian Post Office Act, 1898 to ensure a level playing field for all service providers including courier services.
The draft Indian Post Office ACt (Amendment) Bill 2006 was placed on public domain indiapost.gov.in for views and comments.
The comments of stake holding ministries and departments have been obtained and the draft proposal will be vetted by the Law Ministry and Justice before the amendment Bill is submitted to the parliament, Minister of State for Communications and IT Shakeel Ahmed said in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha.
