Security beefed up in N Bengal, NJP-Guwahati rail route
Siliguri, Aug 10 (UNI) Security has been stepped up in North Bengal and the entire railway route from New Jalpaiguri to Guwahati in Asom to avert any untoward incident on the Independence Day.
Inspector General of Police (North Bengal) Kishanlal Meena here today said, '' We have information that women cadres of ULFA with the help of KLO have already sneaked into North Bengal. Extra women forces have been deployed and all the police stations in the region alerted to avert any sabotage by KLO and ULFA. '' Extra force might be deployed if needed, he added.
NF Railway had put the entire railway route from New Jalpaiguri to Guwahati on high alert, NF Railway spokesperson Trikalagya Rava said.
'' A special security cell has also been opened to keep vigil on this route by Railway police, Army, West Bengal and Asom police.
This cell aims to prevent terrorist activities on this rail route, '' Mr Rava said.
Four cells have been opened in all the sensitive stations. They would keep round-the-clock vigil on 12 railway bridges in this route.
