Rupee strong by six paise closes at Rs 46.41/USD

Mumbai, Aug 10: Indian rupee today grew strong by six paise and close at 46.41 per US dollar, as compared to the previous close of Rs 46.47 per USD, a trader in the money market said.

Rupee earlier opened at 46.44/45 per US dollar and in the mid morning session traded at 46.42/43/USD.

RBI today fixed the reference rate at Rs 46.43/US dollar, as compared to the previous rate of 46.53 per USD.

The six-month forward premia was fixed low at 1.18 per cent and the one year forward premia was also fixed low at 1.23 per cent.

The rupee performance against other currencies was also good, against euro it was up at 59.60 (59.83), against pound sterling it was up at 88.32 (88.61) and against yen it was flat at 40.40 (40.40).
