Respite for Dalmiya, City Court stays Disciplinary Commitee meeting
Kolkata, Aug 10 (UNI) A beleaguered Jagmohan Dalmiya got a respite as Chief judge of the City Civil court P K Sarkar today adjourned the BCCI Disciplinary Committee meeting, where the former board President was asked to depose on August 15.
It came as a shot in the arm for Mr Dalmiya as the court decided to adjourn the Disciplinary Committee till disposal of hearing on August 22.
Judge Mr Sarkar said the decision was already pending in the court and hence the Discplinary Committee meeting could not be held on August 15.
On July 22, Mr Dalmiya had questioned the legality of him being summoned before the Disciplinary Committee following which the court had asked the BCCI to submit an affidavit and give Mr Dalmiya another week's time to reply.
The court also fixed the date of hearing on August 22 but the BCCI fixed August 15 as the date for the Disciplinary Committee meet and summoned Mr Dalmiya to Mumbai.
Mr Dalmiya challenged the legality of this Disciplinary Committee meeting and the case was still pending in the court. He filed a petition on August 1.
This was a day after Mr Dalmiya won the CAB election and came back as president for the 15th time consecutively.
BCCI counsel Ankur Chawla told UNI that they might challenge this decision in higher court tomorrow.
