Rains do not bring respite from heat

Kolkata, Aug 10 (UNI) After a spell of hot and sultry weather Kolkata experienced smart showers today which continued since last evening.

The Met department said about 65 mm of rainfall was recorded in the past 24 hours.

They have also forecast heavy to very heavy thundershowers in the next 48 hours and warned people in coastal areas not to venture into the sea.

However, despite rains there has been no respite from the hot and humid condition as the humidity level stood at 98 per cent.

There has been no change in the temperature which remained the same at 36 degree Celsius. The minimum was 25 degree Celsius, added the met department.
