Punjab Cabinet approves change of land use policy

Chandigarh, Aug 10 (UNI) The Punjab government today approved the policy for change of land use to facilitate private sector investment in development of industrial parks and estates, agro and IT parks and integrated multiplexes.

This decision was taken in the meeting of the state Council of Ministers held here, chaired by Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh.

This decision would reduce the limit for construction of factories in the case of non-hazardous units from 500 meters to 100 meters.

The Council of Ministers also approved to set up six New Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Projects and 2691 new Anganwari Centers under the 100 percent centrally sponsored ICDS programmes to provide pre-school education, immunisation, health check up, referral services, nutrition and health education and supplementary nutrition.

The Cabinet also approved the draft of State Vigilance Commission Bill-2006 to pave the way for establishing the Punjab State Vigilance Commission under the Chairmanship of State Vigilance Commissioner. The Chief Secretary would a member of this Commission.

The Punjab Ministers also approved to raise the borrowing limit of the Punjab State Electricity Board from Rs 6000 crore to Rs 8000 crore under Section 65(3) of the Electricity (Supply) Act, 1948.
