ONGC Hazira complex remains shut on day 3; may open tomorrow

New Delhi, Aug 10 (UNI) Energy major Oil&Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (ONGC) today said the emergency shut-down of the Hazira gas processing complex continued for the third day today, but expected the plant to open tomorrow.

''The floodwater has receded 5-6 ft since yesterday, and it is expected that by tomorrow, the plant will be cleared of floodwater.

However, some critical locations have water at a height of 3-6 ft.

We are mobilising resources, manpower and expertise from other neighboring work centers,'' a company statement said today.

Heavy rains in catchment areas of Tapti river had forced the company to shut down the complex on August 8.

The situation was assessed today morning by a high level company team led by Director (Offshore) N K Mitra.

The plant receives around 40.5 million metric standard cubic meters of gas per day from the company's Offshore Basin field and the Panna, Mukta, Tapti (PMT) Joint Venture field.

The production loss is 1650 MT/day of LPG, 3350MT/day of Aromatic Naphtha, 417 MT/day of Superior Kerosene Oil (SKO) and 48 MT/day of High Speed Diesel (HSD).

The throughput to HVJ pipeline is at present nil, and the approximated loss of revenue is around Rs 19 crore a day.
