New fare structure for buses in Bihar

Patna, Aug 10 (UNI) Bihar Transport Minister Ajit Kumar said steps have been taken to rationalise bus fares in the state and release a new fare table.

Replying to a notice of CPI Member Usha Sahni in the Legislative Council, the state Transport Minister said the government was committed to bring uniformity in bus fares in all categories and instructedions had already been issued in this regard to all divisional Commissioners and District Magistrates.

Mr Kumar also admitted that remarkable decline in the number of heavy vehicles have been witnessed.

He did not rule out the possibility of carrying excess loads by small vehicles and said steps had been taken to check this practice.
