NABARD approves 120 rural road projects in J
Srinagar, Aug 10 (UNI) NABARD has sanctioned 120 road projects at a cost of Rs 222 crore in rural areas of Jammu and Kashmir, an official spokesman said today.
He said two vital road projects with the financial assistance of NABARD involving Rs 8.44 crore have been sanctioned for Noorabad constituency in Anantnag district.
Under these projects, better road connectivity would be provided to Hardimand Guri, Chek Ranbirpora, Korail Mirwani, Chekiwattoo, Yaroo Singoora, Gund Wani Waripora, Tsimer to Dand ward, Boh and Dragran besides renovation of road network in the area.
These were among the 120 projects already sanctioned by NABARD with an expenditure of Rs 222 crore under the road reconstruction programme for rural areas of the state.
This was stated by Agriculture Minister Abdul Aziz Zarger at a function organised for giving financial assistance to the people of Noorabad living below poverty line under Indira Awas Yojana for construction of residential houses at Kulgam.
He distributed cheques amounting to Rs 7.50 lakh among 62 beneficiaries as second installment for construction of shelters.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said the state government was committed to ensuring equitable development of all the regions in the state. For this, a bill has been passed in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislature to constitute the State Finance Commission.
Mr Zargar said Tsimer-Dandwad-Dragran road would be upgraded at a cost of Rs 4.36 crore while Hardimand Guri, C RPora Korail, Waripora road project would involve Rs 4 crore.
The Minister announced that five water supply schemes at a cost of Rs 85 lakh would be taken up in the constituency during the current year under Kandi development programme.
These include water supply schemes at Tsimer, Huma Pathri, Dragran, Nandmarg and Sarmarg, he added.
