Mystery creates flutter at Writers' Buildings
Kolkata, Aug 10 (UNI) Cracking of the windowpanes in the high security VIP zone of the Writers' Building created a flutter in the State Secretariat today.
It was in the late afternoon that the window in the room of the legal remembrancer cracked following obvious hits by some object from outside. The loud sound from the room, which was hardly 35 metres away from Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee's chamber drew immediate attention of employees and security personnel who rushed to the spot.
Mr Bhattacharjee was in his room at the time of the incident.
To everyone's surprise, no stone or any other object was found even as shards of broken glass lay strewn inside the room.
Some policemen hinted that shots could have been fired by somebody, but there was no bullet mark on the wall of the room either.
The Deputy Commissioner of Reserve Force and the Deputy Commissioner, Central rushed to the spot shortly after the incident for inspection. Police took samples of the broken glass panes for further investigation.
