Manipur to get Sports Academy
Imphal, Aug 10 (UNI) Manipur Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Govindas Konthoujam has announced that the Doner Ministry would take up the work at the National Sports Academy, Khuman Lampak, Imphal on priority basis in the current financial year.
The Minister interacted with central leaders and officials at New Delhi to discuss about the sports projects, state officials said.
Govindas said sports talents in the academy would be groomed from the grassroot level and Rs 27.61 crore would be spent on the project.
The District Sports Complex, Tamenglong, would be taken up and it would cost around Rs 12.60 crore, he said.
Officials said besides the sports complexes some other projects would be taken up under the Doner Ministry.
The projects were 33 KV sub-station at Willong at the cost of Rs 4.64 crore, System Improvement of Water Supply Scheme at Moreh Town (Rs 7.18 Crore), Augmentation of Water Supply at Tungjoi in Senapati District (Rs 3.57 crore) and Improvement of Jiri-Tipaimukh Road 6-60 km (Rs 19.07 crore).
The total amount agreed by the Ministry of DoNER for these projects is Rs 74.67 crore.
The Ministry of Doner has already communicated to the Manipur Government to submit the Detailed reports of these projects by September 29.
