Landslide causes house collapse in Kolhapur
Kolhapur, Aug 10 (UNI) Two houses collapsed in Apati village after a landslide occurred at Jambhalewadi hamlet in Panchala tehsil of the district of Maharashtra following heavy rains in the area.
Panhala tehsildar office today said following the landslide, two houses in Apati village developed deep fissures and collapsed yesterday.
The people trapped in the houses were evacuated, sources said and added that no one was injured in the incident.
Jambhalewadi is a hamlet at the base of the Panhala fort.
Meanwhile, even as the rains slowed down in the district over the last two days, the flood situation of the Panchaganga and Krishna rivers remained unchanged, district collector office said.
Besides, Kolhapur district recorded 432.5 mm rains during the last 24 hours which ended at 0800 hrs today, in which Radhanagari tehsil recorded the highest 105 mm downpour.
