Kumaraswamy seeks Central team to visit flood-hit areas
Bangalore, Aug 10 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today reiterated his plea for a Central team to assess the damage caused by floods in various parts of the State.
Speaking to newspersons here, he said he had apprised of the situation to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh when he led an all-party delegation to New Delhi recently and the response was encouraging.
The State had also submitted a memorandum, seeking financial assistance of Rs 1,400 crore for taking up relief measures.
To questions on the border issue with Maharashtra, he said there was nothing to have a mutual dialogue as the Mahajan Commission report was final and it should be implemented in toto.
He said he had also met Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar and discussed in detail about the package being implemented to check farmers' suicide. The Minister had assured that he would send a team to the State at the earliest to study crop loss due to floods.
He said Railways Minister Lalu Prasad would inaugurate the new rail link between Mangalore and Hassan next month.
