1993 Mumbai blast case verdict on Sept 12
Mumbai, Aug 10: The 1993 serial Mumbai blast case comenced at TADA court today. The vedict has been postponed and will be given on September 12, 2006.
There are 123 accused in the case and 86 of them are out on bail. The court has asked the accused on bail to be present at the court today while the judgemnet is being given. They include cine star Sanjay Dutt and few members of the Memon family. However, some of the prime accused in the case are absconding.
The public prosecutor Ujwal nigam said that Abu Salem has filed a petition in the High Court asking for his case not to be proceeded. However, he also added that the case has commenced in the TADA court and will be dealth accordingly.
The trial of 1993 serial blast case began on June 19, 1995. It was later concluded in 2003. 686 witnesses were examined by the court.
A series of blasts rocked the city within 130 mins in Mumbai in 1993. The bombs were placed at Bombay Stock exchange, Petrol bunk in fornt of the Shiv Sena Bhavan, Century Bazaar, Plaaza Cinema.
