Jammu, Aug 10 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir government has sanctioned Rs 10 lakh for development projects and issued instructions to the roads and bridge department to use best quality materials for development works in urban as well as rural areas.
Minister of state for roads and bridge Gulchain Singh Charak visited the areas where construction work is under way and instructed the officials concerned to refrain from using sub standard material. He said punitive action would be taken against those not adhering to these norms.
Mr Charak said development programme launched by the government as enshrined in the common minimum programme will bring about socio-economic transformation in the state. ''The ambitious programmes launched by the government can be accomplished only with the active cooperation of the people,'' he added.
He inspected the repair and renovation of ongoing development works and new projects at R S Pura, Panama Chowk, Qasim Nagar and the Bahu fort temple.
