Jayaram to be ISEC's next Director

Bangalore, Aug 10: Prof N Jayaram of the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, will be the next Director of the city-based Institute for Social and Economic Change (ISEC).

A notification to this effect was issued by Karnataka Governor T N Chaturvedi in his capacity as ISEC President on the recommendation of the Search Committee, chaired by Dr C Rangarajan, Chairman, Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister, according to an ISEC release here today.

Prof Jayaram would succeed Prof Gopal K Kadekodi, who would be retiring on attaining the age of superannuation on September five.

He would hold office for a period of five years from the date he assumes charge, the release said.

Besides considerable teaching experience at Bangalore and Goa Universities and at the University of the West Indies at Trinidad, Prof Jayaram had written or edited nine books and was the Managing Editor of the prestigious journal, 'Sociological Bulletin'.
