Hyderabad, Aug 9 (UNI) The Special Operations Team (SOT) of the Cyberabad Police has succeeded in busting a notorious inter-state pseudo naxal gang here today led by Brahmananda Chari with the arrest of five offenders, who have been responsible for the commission of a series of dacoities and robberies in Andhra Pradesh (Telangana) and Maharastra.

A release said three more accused were absconding. The brigands posed themselves as Naxalites while committing offences. In all, 16 cases of robbery and dacoity including latest case of Alwal PS have been detected and property worth Rs 15 lakh was recovered.

The team leader Brahmam would survey the area, where the gang would want to commit offence. He would call his accomplice to rendezvous to discuss about the modalities of the commission of the offence including the locality in general where to commit offence.

He would not show his house to any of his gang members in advance. All the members of the gang would meet at the place of Sadanandam or Raju in the evening and go to the area where the leader Brahmam had decided to go. The target could be either wine shop, house, rice-mill, petrol-bunk, among others.

They would brandish the toy pistol and would threaten the victim inmates to either shell down the amount or go along with them to the jungle to meet their leader.

They would rob the money and go away with the booty and distribute the same among themselves. The leader gets the lion share. The gang would bolt the victim family in the house from outside. The accused spend money very lavishly on food and purchase of house-hold articles. He shifts his house very frequently and instructs his other accomplices to change their respective residences in a similar fashion.

In the most recent offence at Alwal PS, one of the accused Sadanand, has worked as a car driver at the house of victim Murali Krishna. He left his job in the victims' house and the offence followed immediately. This rose suspicions the investigation into the antecedents of the driver and his associates led to the arrest of the gang.

In all five accused have been arrested, 16 cases of robberies and dacoities were detected and property worth 15 lakhs was recovered, the release added.
