I-day to be celebrated amid tight security at Rajouri

Jammu, Aug 10 (UNI) Tight security arrangements are being made for August 15, for the smooth celebration of Independence day function in militancy infested border district of Rajouri.

All the arrangements including security were reviewed in the meeting under the chairmanship of Rajouri's District Development Commissioner Parvez Malik and attended by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Rajouri, Farooq Khan, other security agencies officers and civil officials.

To ensure massive public participation the main function will be held at the sports stadium, Kheora, this year where VIPs will hoist the tricolor at 0900 hrs and take salute from the contingents of CRPF, JKP, JKAP, auxiliary police, NCC and school children.

The district information centre, Rajouri will play ''shehnai vadan'' simultaneously at the Town Hall, Gujjar mandi chowk and Jawharnagar from 0500 hrs to 0600 hrs to set the atmosphere for national fervour and gaiety.

The reception committee headed by assistant commissioner(Revenue), will make elaborate sitting arrangements for distinguished guests and general viewers. National and state level awardees of the district both in security and civil fields will be special invitees in the function.

The concerned departments will make necessary arrangements for power and water supply, first aid and illumination of main offices. They have been asked to make available these services right from August 10.
